Week 23 - The Dark Night
Welcome to this Friday evening meditation. To allow the Good God to come close to us, we first become still within ourselves. We do this by sitting comfortably, breathing in and out deeply a few times, and perhaps closing our eyes on a deep out-breath.
The theme of this week is: “The Dark Night.”
The hour of truth in the night is approaching for Jesus.
Everything He has falls away. He is tested to the very limit.
He senses His end drawing near. He prays that this cup may pass from Him.
I desire that, at this moment of His deepest darkness, I may do what He asks of me.
In the music we allow Him to speak to us:
Music
Stay with me, remain here with me, watch and pray.
Stay with me, stay here with me, watch and pray.

Text
They came to an estate called Gethsemane. There He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” He took Peter, James and John with Him and began to be deeply distressed and troubled. He said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch. Going a little further, He fell to the ground and prayed that, if possible, this hour might pass from Him. “Abba, Father,” He prayed, “everything is possible for You; take this cup from Me […]”

I seek the nearness of whatever in this world reminds me most of Jesus. In that I hear His voice: “Stay with me, keep watch with me.” I try, with everything that is within me, to remain with Him and to keep watch with Him.

Am I still with Him?
