Week 13 - The Hidden life
At the beginning of a new academic term in a new year we leave the days filled with Christmas and New Year festivities behind us with all that that evokes in us. And we place ourselves in silence and simplicity before our God who remains at our side in infinite love.
Theme:
Jesus only became the person He is after a long process of internal growth. His realization of His destiny was able to ripen as a result of His relationship with those around him. Jesus chooses what He stands for. It is no different for me.
What I desire:
That I can see how my own process of internal growth has brought me to where I am today. That my destiny in life may become clearer by deepening my understanding of Jesus and the choices He made. That I have the courage to face uncertainty in life.

Nous ne savons pas Ton mystère,
Wij do not know Your mystery,
Amour infini;
Infinite Love;
Mais Tu as un coeur,
But You have a heart,
Toi qui cherches le fils perdu,
You who searches for the prodigal son ,
Et Tu tiens contre Toi
And You hold him close to You,
Cet enfant difficile
This difficult child
Qu'est le monde des humains.
That the world is of humanity.
Nous ne voyons pas Ton visage,
We don’t see Your face,
Amour infini;
Infinite Love;
Mais Tu as des yeux,
But You have eyes,
Car Tu pleures dans l'opprimé,
Because you weep over the oppressed,
Et Tu poses sur nous
And You cast upon us
Ce regard de lumière
That gaze of light,
Qui révèle Ton pardon.
Which reveals Your forgiveness.
When Jesus was twelve years old, Mary and Joseph lost him after the feast of Passover in Jerusalem. After three days of searching they found him in the temple.
Luke 2: 49 - 52
And He (Jesus) said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
Even when He was still a child, Jesus lived with the deepest realisation that His true home was with the Father. I look back at my own hidden path in my life with God. Which way did my path go?
*
And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them (His parents); and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favour with God and man.
What do I keep in my heart – worries, frustrations, inner struggles – and is there (maybe precisely here) an inner growth process apparent which is blossoming?
*
Jesus grew in His relationship with God because of Mary and Joseph, through listening and questioning in the temple and undoubtedly also in the silent, still hidden moments of everyday life. Through whom or through what have I got to know God?
*
Jezus groeide in zijn relatie met God dankzij Maria en Jozef, door het luisteren en vragen in de tempel, en ongetwijfeld ook in het stille, verborgen leven van alledag. Door wie of door wat heb ík God leren kennen?
